I have been getting up at 4:45 am to get to the gym when they open at 5:00am. Then I can work out for 45 minutes and get home by 6:00 to make sure that Rachael is up and going for school. On "A" days Rachael has to be to school by 6:00 for Guard practice, so on those days, I make Rachael's lunch then go to the gym, and Richard takes her to school on his way to work.
But we now have A BUMP IN THE ROAD. Richard's work schedule is changing, he will now be working the 2nd shift, 12:30 to 9:00 pm. But we have worked it out. I still get up and get to the gym early, Richard goes to the gym after I get home, so one of us is here to get Rachael up for School. The good part about it is that I could stay at the gym for an hour now. Those extra 15 minutes will make a difference in the weight loss plan. I can burn some extra calories, every extra calorie burned will get me closer to my goals.

Daily Weigh In
Just love my socks. I am too cheap to throw a good sock away, even if one in the pair has gotten holes and I have thrown it away.
There can be a debate about the weighing in every day vs weighing in once a week. I think I like the every day idea right now. It is helping me to stay motivated to get to the gym every day.

Time to Get Serious!
The Fitness Center is holding their own "BIGGEST LOSER" Contest. They are looking to have teams of 6 people who will work with a trainer for 3 months, then the three people from each team who have the biggest percentage of weight loss, will contine in the contest for an additional 3 months. Then a male and female will be named "BIGGEST LOSER". I submitted my paperwork today and hope to be chosen for one of the teams.

It is tough to put these pictures on here. But reality it is! I need to lose weight for my health. I am the one who has gotten myself to this point, and I am the one who can do something about it. I know I will do better if I have to report to someone. The competivitness will help me.
So my paperwork is turned in, I have to wait until next week to find out if I made the program. In the mean time I will still go to the gym and continue working on it myself.

Does shoveling snow count?
We got our first measurable snow last night. So after going to the gym after work, I came home and shoveled snow. We probably had a close to 2 inches. It was really wet snow. I was really glad that I had it all shoveled, when I woke up in the morning and we had more snow. Today was a day that my daughter had to be at school at 6:00 am. So I got her lunch made, breakfast made and then headed outside to shovel snow. So my question is - Can shoveling snow last night and again this morning count as my workout? I didn't go to the gym this morning, so I hope so.
I did go to the gym after work. I even stayed for a whole hour. I think that is the first time that I have done an hour this year.

100 Day Challenge
We have a family pass to the American Fork Fitness Center. When we are good and get to the Fitness Center it is really worth the cost. But when we are bad and don't go it seems expensive. I have really found a system that is working for me. I have some movies on my Ipad, and I start one and I can just keep going on the ellipitical machine. Right now I am watching the TV series "Pretty Little Liars". I have season 1 downloaded and watch 1 episode every time I go. It takes about 45 minutes to watch one show, so it works perfect. I have found an ellipitical that has a cup holder on the side of the machine and the top has a ledge with some little knobs that keep the Ipad in place. In no time at all, my 45 minute workout is over.

When I get 100 stamps I get some sort of prize. If you know me I love to get free things. So I have my little book and am getting my stamps every time I go. I have been trying to go twice a day, so my book is filling up. I am getting myself in shape and getting something for free. (It is probably something silly like a water bottle)
For the good or bad of weighing my self everyday, I am going to do it. I understand that my weight will do some ups and downs, but the goal is to continue in a downward trend. So I will keep at it, even on days when I get on the scale and is show me up from the day before.

The other thiing that I need to work on, is the WEEKENDS. I can't let that be a time to just eat whatever I want. I am able to go to the gym on Saturday, and I need to get better at that, right now, Saturday can't be a day off. So I will go to the gym on Saturday and eat good that day as well. I don't want to weigh myself every Monday and feel like what ever I did for the last week was a waste, because I weigh as much Monday as I did a week age. So here's to a better weekend nest week!

The Debate Monster
So this morning, the alarm went off at 4:43 am. My daughter had to be at school at 6:00 am. I made her lunch and then it was time for me to go to the gym. Then the DEBATE MONSTER shows up. Should I go to the gym or should I stay home and make her breakfast. If I stay home and make her breakfast, will I still go to the gym? Should I go or should I stay?
I kissed my husband and daughter good bye, wished them each a good day, and left for the gym, knowing my husband would make sure my daughter got breakfast before going to school.
Then the DEBATE MONSTER showed up again. Now that I am leaving home a little late, should I still do my normal workout routine, or should I shorten it. If I shorten it I can get to work earlier and make up some of the time I missed from being sick.
I walked into the gym and set the time on the machine for 45 minutes, just like normal, and began exercising; It felt GREAT! I need to remember that every time the DEBATE MONSTER shows up. My day goes better, I feel better, things are better when I get some exercise first thing in the morning.

I will not be discouraged.
I had a GREAT day yesterday, happy with the scale, probably had my best food day in a while, got some things done at home.
And what do I find when I get on the scale this morning.
WHat?????? How did I go up in weight 3 and 1/2 pounds?
Ok - so yes I was sick the other day, and not just sick, but hanging both ends over the toilet sick. I had hoped the weight lost during that would stay off. But no such luck, I will have to work hard to lose it, but continuing to eat right and getting exercise.
I WILL SUCCEED!!!!!
On another note, don't you just love the socks, if all the kids can wear socks that don't match so can I. Why should I throw away both socks just because one of hem has a hole. So I will pretend to be 16 and wear my socks that don't match on occastion.
Here's hoping the scale is better to me tomorrow.

The best laid plans . . .
Well, my intentions on Monday were good, I truly did mean to get the the gym Tuesday morning. Get back to the routine, but my body had other plans.
About 4:30 while still at work, my tummy started feeling a little off. I came home from work with plans to get something to eat and then go to the gym. I started to feed the dogs their dinner, and that was all it took, the smell set me off and for the rest of the night, I wasn't sure which end I needed to have hangin on the toilet. I didn't sleep well and still felt pretty off in the morning. I called in sick, I can not remember the last time that I did that, and never got out of my jammies all day. I laid in the bed and watched tv, read a book, and napped.
My wonderful husband made some homemade soup for dinner, and it hit the spot. I am feeling much better. So now I've had 3 days off from the gym, and the alarm is set to get back there in the morning.
Oh yah, the cold is gone as well.
Yes, sir, that scale says 211. That means I am down 8 pounds. Keep up the good work! I know that I won't always lose 8 pounds in 10 days all the time, but it is a great movatitor!

A Cold
I have been trying to fight off a cold for the past few days. I've woken up with a sore throat every morning, but after drinking some water it seemed to have gone away, but on Friday, my voice was sounding a little funny and I was feeling a little stuffed up. By Saturday afternoon, I knew I had a cold, the achey eyes, the running nose, the congestion, it was all there.
As a family we went to the auto show Saturday morning. Fun to day dream and wish, someday hoping to buy a new car for me and one for my daughter, and a truck for my husband.
I took a nap Saturday afternoon, and went to bed early.
Sunday after church I took a nap and again went to bed early. My daughter has no school on Monday, and I decided to try to sleep in myself, a little extra rest and maybe get rid of this cold quickly.
I will get back to the gym

10 WORKOUTS!
I did 10 workouts in the past six days.
A total of 8 hours of exercise.
I did something I haven't done before. I took a ZUMBA class. It was a fun class. I will do it again. There were lots of moves, that I didn't do quite right, but will get better the next time I go. My daughter went with me to the class, it was fun to do with her. I knew a couple of other people in the class, and that also helped to make the class enjoyable.
Exercise can be fun!

Why do I ever stop working out? I get to the gym iin the morning and have a good workout on the ellipitical, I enjoy my 45 minutes there, some mornings I would like to do more, but need to get home to get breakfast ready for my daughter, and get myself ready for work. It is hard sometimes to hear my alarm go off at 4:40 in the morning, but if I don't go in the morning, I probably won't get there. I have been going back to the gym after work and taking my daughter with me. It is always good to have a friend there to encourage me along. Plus two a day workout's are seeing the pounds melt away.

Day 3 of my new life.
I have done good with getting lots of water. I just have to fill my cup up as soon as it gets empty and have it sit close to me on the desk at work. I am trying to get most of my water in before I leave work. Then hopefully I won't have to get up too many times during the night.
I have gone to the gym 3 mornings in a row, and have gone back to the gym 3 evenings. Rachael has come with me. It is a boost to have someone come with me. A little encouragement goes a long ways.
My weight loss goal is to lose 2 pounds a week, and guess what, I saw when I got on the scale today. The first 1 pound gone. WOO HOO!!! HAPPY DAY!!! I know the weight will not fall off over night, but working at it each any every day, it will come off.

A New Year

This is the year I am going to do it. I am doing this for me, for the sore knees, for the enjoyable walks I want to take without my feet, legs, and body hurting. This is the time I take control of my life. I am in charge!
As a friend put on her Facebook page the other day after going to the doctor for a physical, "This is the starting weight"
I went to the American Fork Fitness Center this morning. 50 minutes on the elipitical, the machine says I burned 577 calories.
I drank 13 cups of water today.
I went back to the Fitness Center this evening for 35 minutes, I used a different elipitical machine and burned 327 calories. Rachael went with me this evening. It makes it a little more fun to have someone there with me.
MY GOAL is to lose 2 pounds a week. Day 1 was off to a good start!
