I went back to the gym this evening for a second workout. 50 minutes on the elipitical. While on it I wondered about the heart rate zone, one says "Weight Loss Zone" the other says " Cardio Zone", what is the difference and which is better? I went to google and found that those terms can be misleading, to lose weight you need to burn calories, at a higher heart rate you burn more calories, so exercising at the "Cardio Zone" wold be better, but you can't exercise at that rate the whole workout every day. so it is good to mix it up between the two heart rates.
I enjoy watching "Biggest Loser". The new season started today, I am watching it right now. I know that I am over weight - yes I am more than over weight - I am classified as obsese. I am very thankful that I am not overweight to the extent the contestants are. But that is no excuse, I need to make a life style change, exercise every day and control my eating. I need to do it for ME!

Thought of the Day
Two steps forward and one step back, is better than no steps forward.
I will continue to take steps forward, and know that steps backward will happen, but I need to quickly turn my self around, and start on the forward steps again. I didn't put all this weight on in one day and I won't lose it all in one day. But if I keep at it one day at a time, it will start to go away.

Had a rough nights sleep, a phone call that woke me up, noisy adult kids in the basement. I didn't wake up to go to the gym this morning.
I did get to the gym after work, 45 minutes on the elipitical, it claims about 430 calories burned. I did some stretching and weights with the arms. It felt good.

Today was an "emotional" eating day. I attended a funeral for a cousin and ate too much yummy stuff at the family dinner after. They had "funeral" potatoes, and I had to try several different varities. Homemade rolls and chocolate cake. I definately had a bad food day and no exercise.

Jan 1 - Thought of the Day
One HOUR of exercise daily is better than TWENTY-FOUR hours a day dead!

A New Year
Welcome 2010! I am ready for the new beginning that a new year brings. I cleaned out the file drawers at work yesterday, boxed up all of 2009. It feels good to have that done and ready for the new year.
I started the New Year off right. I went to the gym this morning, 15 minutes on the elipitical, 15 minutes walking and 15 minutes doing some stretches. It felt good.
We stopped at the store and bought a fabric measuring tape, so I can do some body measurements. I will have not only the weight dropping to measure my progress, but also see how many inches I lose along the way.
Day 1 of the rest of my life.
Goal: Lose 10 pounds by February 1, 2010.
Starting weight 196.0
Bust 39 1/2 inches
Waist 38 inches
Hips 45 inches
Right Arm 15 inches
Right Thigh 29 inches
Plan: - Get to the gym for a workout at least 4 days a week.
- Use the elipitical or treadmill at home on the other 3 days a week
- Do weight training 2 days a week.
- Count calories - 1200 to 1400 per day.
So now it is all out there, if I don't post an update you can ask me for one. I am reporting to anyone who reads this, but more importantly to myself. If I want to change it is up to me. I can succeed! I will succeed!
If anyone out there finds this blog and wants to send me encouraging words of wisdom they will be appreciated.
Thanks,

A new Beginning
We joined the Rec Center last night, bought a family pass for the year.
I set my alarm for 4:40 am and got up and went to the gym. I did 45 minutes on the elipitical. The machine says that I burned 408 calories. I know that the calorie count is not accurate, but it does give me an idea of what I did.
I weighed my self this morning before going to the gym 198 pounds. For my height that is considered obese. For this week my goal is to lose 3 pounds.
I watch Biggest Loser last night. They are down to the final four contestants for this season. I know that I can't spend all day exercising like they do. I have a 60 minute window in the morning and I am going to make a 30 minute window in the evening. With four weeks left in the year I would like to be down 12 pounds by the end of the month. I can do this.
